Position Purpose:  Trans Ova Genetics offers a summer internship program that is designed to give students who have a passion for the animal science and reproduction industry a hands-on and real-world experience in the area of reproductive technologies.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist professional service embryologist team with lab related tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures and data entry.
  • Maintain high level of accuracy and attention to detail while performing any lab related tasks.
  • Maintains good laboratory techniques and follows lab protocol.
  • Provide excellent client service in-clinic and on-farm.
  • When applicable, provide low stress handling of recipient and donor animals through working facilities.
  • Assist with preparation and packing for on-farm road trips.
  • Assist with data entry and records of incoming and outgoing embryos.
  • Assist in preparation of freeze supplies as well as any next day lab preparations.
  • Monitors and fills nitrogen storage tanks when needed.
  • Successfully complete a project and presentation on a topic related to repro or TOG.
  • Maintain a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
  • Follow Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or embryologist team members.
 
Education Requirements:
Students must have completed their sophomore year of undergraduate studies in Animal Science/Biotechnology or a related degree. Veterinary Medicine students are also encouraged to apply. It is preferred that students have already completed a course in reproduction.
 
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Job requires ability to work primarily in a lab setting with professional services embryologist team where a very high level of attention to detail is required. Accuracy is of top priority for this individual. Occasionally required to work in adverse/outdoor conditions, good physical mobility and above average strength/conditioning. Animals, especially if handled improperly, can cause injury. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and be on feet walking, or standing for long periods of time.
 
Other skills/experience:
Students must have the ability to travel.
Must have valid driver’s license.
Must be able to operate a company vehicle.
Must be organized and have effective communication skills.
Excellent cattle handling skills and patience are required.
