One permanent/full-time and one seasonal/full-time positions in our Louisville office are available. These positions will start immediately. The seasonal position will last until the end of August 2019 with the possibility for extension. Responsibilities of the Habitat Restoration Technician will be to implement field practices related to: reforestation of disturbed lands, invasive/exotic species control, timber stand improvement, targeted wildlife habitat restoration, and other related disciplines.
This position will require an understanding and the willingness to learn of the safe and proper use of restoration equipment, vegetation chemical/physical control treatments, and agriculture‐type equipment and implements. Pesticide applicators licenses will be required upon selection for this position. The successful applicant will be expected to follow direction from team leaders and other professional staff, operate habitat restoration equipment and implements, maintain professional appearance and demeanor, conduct themselves safely in the presence of heavy equipment and hand tools, show initiative to learn, and conduct inspections and regular maintenance on a variety of company‐owned mechanical equipment. Opportunities may exist to assist other professionals within our office on several biological, restoration, and engineering field study needs across the eastern U.S. Travel and overnight stays are common and may be necessary for the majority of projects.
Minimum requirements:
o Bachelors or Associates degree (or actively working towards) in ecology, forestry, agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, or similar disciplines.
OR
1+ years of documented work experience relating to landscaping or the specific duties listed above.
o Strong communication and team cooperation abilities.
o Must be able to successfully obtain state pesticide applicator’s licenses.
o Physical ability to perform duties in the field under strenuous and adverse conditions.
o Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and may be required to pass drug and/or alcohol tests as needed.
Compensation: The expected salary will be commensurate with experience and abilities. Permanent employees are eligible for benefits package consisting of training allowance, vacation plan, health/dental/vision insurance, disability and life insurance, bonus time plan, retirement matching, and profit sharing. Seasonal employees can expect competitive hourly pay with paid overtime.
