Hybrid- out of class Tues/In Class Thurs. Prereq: HHS 101, HHS 102 and CLM 241. Restricted to HHS majors during priority registration. This course will address the development of the past and current US health policies within the context of historical, economic, cultural, and political environments. The political process and the roles and responsibilities of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government will be examined. The power and influence that politics, money, the media and special interest groups have had, and continue to have, upon the development of national and state health policies will be discuss and analyzed. This course is a Graduation Composition and Communication Requirement (GCCR) course in certain programs, and hence is not likely to be eligible for automatic transfer credit to UK.
