A course exploring the diversity and significance of English literature from across the world. To what extent is English now a global language, no longer the property of any national group? How has fiction contributed to the process of internationalizing English? To answer these questions and others, this course examines the idea of global citizenship and cosmopolitan English through the work of some of the language's most compelling international novelists.
