Global Asias

Program description

Global Asias is an interdisciplinary program that brings together faculty and students whose scholarly work engages with Asia and its diasporas. The program seeks to move beyond the area studies model in which histories, politics, cultures, etc. are examined only within each countries’ borders or within Asia. We also seek to inspire scholarship and teaching that highlights the dynamic relationships and interactions between Asia and the world. One of our goals is to engage students so that they come to understand the presence of Asia not just as a faraway region and an object of study, but as social, cultural, and political influences that impact their everyday lives. We are currently working on an Undergraduate Certificate in Global Asias. Stay tuned!
