Prereq: Admission to DNP program and NUR 921, NUR 922, NUR 923 and NUR 960. Coreq: NUR 950 (3 credit hour clinical).
This course focuses on the primary care nurse practitioner's assessment, diagnosis and management of episodic health problems of adult and geriatric individuals. Emphasis will be on differentiating a variety of signs and symptoms and interpreting data to formulate differential diagnoses. The use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care will be emphasized. The impact of episodic health problems on the family as a whole will be analyzed. In addition, the primary care nurse practitioner's role as a collaborative member of the health care team will be evaluated.
