This course is an interactive, project-based experience through which students explore the characteristics and implications of collaborative interprofessional practice, as they relate to a significant public health issue (determined each year). Students will experience lectures from content experts across the health professions and participate in faculty-facilitated interprofessional teams to develop a project to be presented at the end of the semester. The projects must be focused on some aspect of the public health issue and incorporate an understanding of the IPEC core interprofessional Competencies. Eligible students are recommended by their respective college deans and admitted by application from UK's health colleges, the Clinical Pastoral Education program within UK HealthCare, and from other programs that are engaged in or support collaborative interprofessional practice (e.g., Counseling Psychology, Dietetics, Kinesiology).
