This course is designed to provide an overview of counseling theories and how they can be applied to a wide variety of circumstances within clinical mental health and rehabilitation counseling context for persons with disabilities. A goal of this course is to acquire knowledge about clinical mental health theoretical orientations and to integrate theory with practice. Emphasis will be on helping students clarify concepts of mental health counseling, personal and professional ethics and values, and personal style, and connecting those concepts and values to various mental health counseling theories, as well as identifying commonalities across theories as these relate to rehabilitation counseling.
