Clinical Pediatric Dentistry I

An introductory preclinical lab and clinical pediatric dentistry course, instructing dental students on preventive care and restorative care for children. In the Simulation Lab, the student will develop a specific skill-set on numerous restorative techniques for primary teeth which will include preparation and restoration for 1) Posterior Teeth: Class I, Class II, Stainless Steel Crown, Pulpotomy treatment and Sealants and for 2) Anterior Teeth: Class III and Class IV anterior Strip Crown restorations. The student will participate in a clinical rotation at the KY Clinic to specifically strengthen the skill set of exam, diagnosis and treatment planning for pediatric patients. The student will also have the opportunity to participate in a clinical rotation at the Saturday Morning Clinic to strengthen the skill set of restorative care for the pediatric patient.
