A study of theories, concepts, and research related to the antepartal phase of the maternity cycle. Emphasis will be on the normal pregnant woman, common variations in normal, deviations from normal, fetal development, and enhancement of the pregnant family's childbearing experience through utilization of the teaching-learning theory and principles of anticipatory guidance. Focus will be on the theoretical aspects of the nurse-midwifery management in the care of the pregnant family during the antepartal phase of the maternity cycle.
