Measuring & Documenting Nursing Practice

This course provides the knowledge and skills essential for advanced practice nurses to evaluate patient care. A systematic approach to collecting information related to nursing practice provides nurses with opportunities to substantiate their contributions to advanced practice. Measuring, documenting, and reporting patient, family, and organizational outcomes will be addressed. Mechanisms for evaluating nursing practices with regard to available resources also are examined. Clinical experience provides opportunities to continue to work with adults with acute and chronic illnesses. In addition, students will focus on the use of practice evaluation methods to document patient/family outcomes within a specific agency.
