In this seminar we explore the 20th-century U.S. South, which means we study a vast and complicated region over the course of a long and complex century. We will focus especially on race, gender, and environment, and also keep a sharp eye on class and economy. The course is designed to provide the foundation for a qualifying exam field, as well as develop skills in analytical and historical thinking.
