This course addresses concepts critical to understanding transport systems. Economic, social, and political as well as spatial perspectives to transport matters are emphasized. Problems, issues and trends facing the sector in both the developed and developing world along with appropriate responses are paramount. Topics include the bases and impact of transport, communications, mass transit, Third World cities, regional development, shipping, railway policies, and the dynamics of airline survival.
