Special Education For Secondary Ed

This course is designed for secondary teachers who encounter students who require special education services. As such, it is intended to provide an in-depth examination of issues in the education of individuals with disabilities. The course is organized in a seminar format with the intent of creating a dialogue among the participants and the instructors. Emphasis will be placed on the development of concepts and the acquisition of a body of knowledge, which relate to issues, processes, and procedures to facilitate the inclusion of all students and collaboration across disciplines. This course takes a broad view of inclusion in all aspects of school and community life. Special consideration is given to the individual student planning variables that must be addressed in meeting the needs of each school-age student with a disability in a variety of integrated school and community settings.
