This one credit course will provide examples of contemporary clinical and healthcare practices where biomedical engineering solutions have either been successfully employed or there is an opportunity for biomedical engineering solutions to solve an existing need in healthcare. The course will consist of classroom lectures combined with visits to the hospital for observation. It is expected that the course will be primarily taught by practitioners of healthcare (Surgeons, internal medicine physicians, pediatricians, orthopedic surgeons, cardiologists etc.) who will discuss utilization of biomedical engineering solutions in their practice or discuss problems that may benefit from biomedical engineering solutions. Occasionally, there will be a class presentation given by individuals working in industry, these presentations will be related to the overall theme of the course which is application of Biomedical Engineering solutions in practice of medicine/healthcare.
