Location: Distance Learning-Hybrid course. Meets in person on several selected dates on UK main campus: 08/22 (Week 1), 09/05 (Week 3), 09/26 (Week 6), 10/17 (Week 9), and 11/14 (Week 13).. Class will be held at Coldstream Research Campus at 1648 McGrathiana Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511 in the Training Resource Center (TRC) Conference Room C. This course is designed to prepare the social worker to conduct culturally sensitive structured, semi-structured and observational clinical assessments of adults, children, families and groups. Special attention will be paid to diagnostic assessments, substance use evaluations, lethality assessments, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based and evidence-informed approaches. Students will learn to develop and implement treatment plans as they relate to the assessment. They will also learn the importance of flexibility in the treatment process.
