LEXINGTON, KY. -- Anna Voskresensky, senior lecturer in Russian studies, has received the American Association of Slavic and East European Languages Award for Excellence in Teaching on the Post-Secondary Level. She received the award at the association’s conference in Philadelphia in February.

The association, which was founded in 1941, exists to advance the study and promote the teaching of Slavic and East European languages, literatures and cultures on all educational levels.

Jeffrey Peters, chair of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures, described Voskresensky as an amazing individual, as he congratulated her for her achievement.

“"Anna is a gem. She is creative, innovative, dynamic, and caring, and is universally beloved by her students,” he said. “My colleagues and I couldn't be prouder of her for receiving this award, which she richly deserves."

Anna talked about her achievement and how delighted she was to receive this award. 

“This award came as a big surprise to me,” she said. “I was very pleased and touched that my work with the students at the University of Kentucky was so highly appreciated. I am grateful to my colleagues, professors Jeanmarie Rouhier-Willoughby and Cynthia Ruder, who nominated me for this award and support me in all my projects.”

She then went on to talk about her inspirations and how she continues to try and make huge impacts on the community.

“My inspiration always comes from my roots, love for what I do, who I do it with and who I do it for,” she said.
