My name is Trinity Houston and I am a junior at the University of Kentucky. I am majoring in Psychology, double minoring in Cognitive Science and Philosophy, and also on the pre-medical track. I am from Oxford, Alabama, a small town about an hour north of Birmingham if anyone is familiar with the state, and graduated from Oxford High School in 2017.
Outside of being an Arts & Sciences Ambassador, there are many things I’m involved in on campus. I am a part of the Psychology Student Association and I served as a K-Crew Leader for the fall semester of 2018. I am a member of the Iota Sigma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where I hold the positions of Official Hostess and Sisterly Relations Chair. I have had the honor of being accepted into 3 honor societies thus far in my time at UK; Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega, and Psi Chi. I also have been a peer tutor at Presentation U on campus for a year, and I am now a Student Program Coordinator for Professional Development, Training, and CRLA Certification at the center. Lastly, I have gotten the opportunity to experience undergraduate research within the Psychology Department in two separate labs. I worked in Dr. Lorch’s ADHD Lab during the fall semester of 2018 and am currently working in Dr. Marshburn’s Social Psychology Lab with a focus on Racism and Black Friendship studies. Following undergrad, I plan to continue my studies in Medical School in the pursuit of one day becoming a Psychiatrist.
Being an out of state student can be tough, but UK has really become my home away from home. For the incoming students reading, I hope you love it here as much as I do, and please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask me anything. Go Cats!
