A&S Staff Mentorship Program

In an effort to strengthen the recruitment, retention, and professional development of A&S Staff, the College of Arts and Sciences has relaunched the Staff Mentorship Program.

The goals and objectives of the mentor program is to:

  • Recognize and Reward Excellence
  • Recruit and Retain the Best Talent in A&S
  • Identity Future Leaders
  • Improve Staff Morale
  • Cultivate Healthy Relationships

Nine steps to creating a successful mentorship program:

STEP 1 -- Identify a leader to serve as the CHAMPION of the program.
STEP 2 -- Seek out PASSIONATE people to serve as MENTORS
STEP 3 -- Train the MENTORS on their roles and responsibilities
STEP 4 -- Identify high-performing future leaders to be your MENTEES
STEP 5 -- Focus on the PAIRING of MENTORS and MENTEES
STEP 6 -- Create a FRAMEWORK for the RELATIONSHIPS
STEP 7 -- MENTORS goal should be to help their MENTEE find their PASSION
STEP 8 -- Arrange gatherings for ALL PARTICIPANTS
STEP 9 -- MEASURE SUCCESS against program GOALS and OBJECTIVES

 

Those who are selected to be MENTORS will be identified by:
  • PASSION
  • ROLE MODELS
  • INVOLVEMENT
  • WILLINGNESS
Those who are selected to be MENTEES will be identified by:
  • EXCELLENCE
  • PASSION
  • DEVELOPMENT
  • LEADERSHIP
  • COMMITMENT
