Exploratory Studies in Arts and Sciences

375 Patterson Office Tower
859-257-1175

The College of Arts and Sciences has two options in Exploratory Studies.

Exploratory Studies – Math and Natural Sciences

Exploratory Studies – Humanities and Social Sciences

The Exploratory Studies Program provides students with an extraordinarily diverse educational environment that includes coursework spanning Math and Natural Sciences or Humanities and Social Sciences. This provides students with the unique opportunity to explore multiple areas of interest during their first several semesters on campus.

Importantly, the Exploratory Studies program is not a four-year degree program: it serves as a jumping off point for students who are eager to explore a variety of different disciplines within the College while at the same time making progress toward the successful completion of the student’s UK CORE and College requirements.

Students enrolled in the Exploratory Studies program are encouraged to declare a major field of study after two or three semesters of academic exploration.

The College of Arts and Sciences provides all Exploratory Studies students with a full time academic advisor.  In addition, several pre-professional advisors in the College are available to work with each student, to pair the student’s academic interests with a viable academic plan and career path after graduation.
