Interim Dean's Message

It all starts here.

Welcome to the UK College of Arts & Sciences website designed for our alumni and friends.  We hope this site will allow you to stay current on the latest A&S happenings from near or far.  I am honored to serve as Interim Dean to the largest college at the University of Kentucky, particularly one that shows such vision and promise.

If you are an alum, there are many new efforts underway since your time on campus, even if you just graduated. We are moving fast and aggressively toward pursuits that will change the way our students are educated, ensuring they receive opportunities competitive with any university worldwide. We want our alumni to proudly participate in this progress as it boosts your alma mater’s reputation and the value of your own degrees along the way.

For our friends, I hope on these pages you will see many things that interest and inspire you. The College of Arts & Sciences provides a learning platform for individuals who impact the Commonwealth, nation, and world. At our liberal arts core stands the belief that education motivates, challenges, and enables better futures. Support from our alumni and friends makes that possible.

We believe that transformative education does indeed start in our College. Initial building blocks for careers in medicine, law, humanities, social sciences, teaching, natural sciences and innumerable other career pursuits stem from the quality of the experiences we deliver. We must offer the best education possible so that our graduates learn to impact their communities in responsible, substantial ways.

Even during the pandemic, it is a terrific time to be involved with the College. Attend virtual events, recommend students, give to your area of interest, read updates regularly, and stay in touch. There is an impressive tradition and history within our walls, and the future promises more noteworthy accomplishments. We look forward to hearing from you.
