This course focuses on the Family Nurse Practitioner's role in the assessment, diagnosis and management of selected acute and chronic health problems among children in the primary care setting as well as care of the childbearing family. Emphasis will be placed on differentiating a variety of signs and symptoms and interpreting data to formulate differential diagnoses. The use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to assist in the assessment and management of acute and chronic health problems will be explored. Growth and development, well child exams, prenatal and postpartum care and the impact of health problems on the family will be emphasized.
