Meet Tina Hagee

History

I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica along with 5 other siblings.  I moved to the US to attend college where I met my husband and moved to Lexington where I’ve lived for almost 35 years! Can’t think of any other place to live other than maybe the beachfront in Jamaica!   I was blessed with two wonderful children, and am now a beaming grandma of identical twin girls!

1.         What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am an 18 century reenactor, portrayed as a frontier pioneer woman and also as a Native American Indian.  I mostly spent my time researching native foodway preparations and medicinal plants and herbs for demonstration at 18 century events, schools and forts throughout Kentucky and other surrounding States, the farthest I’ve been was to Fort Roberdeau in Pennsylvania. Along with my husband, who sings and perform 18 century British Isles, Celtic music, we travel to these events mostly on weekends throughout the year.  Other than that I like to read a good book and relax during what spare time I have left.

2.       What is your favorite movie or book?

I enjoyed reading “The Lord of the Rings” by J. R. R. Tolkien ( at least 3 times already). My favorite movie is The Sound of Music.

3.       What is your favorite animal?

Cats are my favorite animals and being an empty nester, our cat keeps us entertained quite a bit.

4.       Where is your favorite place to go/vacation?

One of my favorite places to go is Colonial Williamsburg, VA. We’ve been there a couple times in our colonial outfits and people thought we worked there.  The most questions we were asked was, “Where is the toilet?”

5.       What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is curried chicken cooked the Caribbean way, with lots of nice hot scotch bonnet peppers.

6.       What is a random/fun fact about yourself?

While vacationing in Guatemala I rode a horse up a live volcano mountain and roasted marshmallows on a stick from one of the hot crevices.
