University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences

Staff Council

The College of Arts and Sciences established the A&S Staff Council in 1992 to establish communication between the staff and the dean of the college.  The Council meets monthly with the exception of June and July.  Council membership is appointed by the dean.  The Council acts as a liaison to the Dean's Office by bringing forth concerns of the staff, discussing potential policy implementation, and offering advice and counsel.

Each year the Staff Council sponsors two luncheons: the Fall Potluck - an opportunity to sample great cooking and become acquainted with staff across the college, and the Spring A&S Staff Appreciation Luncheon - a formal, catered lunch to celebrate and honor college staff.

In 2007, the Council implemented two new certificate programs for staff as well as re-establishing the Outstanding College Staff Awards (to be presented at the Spring luncheon).

As with any organization, the Council is always looking for input to improve working conditions and solve problems.  Please feel free to contact any Council member with your thoughts and concerns.
