Merit Reviews (FMER)

In the 2009-10 academic year, the college is required by university regulations to complete performance reviews for untenured faculty, newly hired faculty, and lecturers (but not, note, senior lecturers). 

The menu on the right should help guide you through the FMER Process.  Please note that the information you are required to submit varies depending on whether you are a tenured faculty member, an untenured or newly-hired tenured faculty member, or a lecturer.  Please be sure to click on the appropriate link.

The department--level ratings, as determined by the chair in consultation with a departmental faculty committee, play a key role in the college's evaluation provess. The Dean and the Associate Dean of Faculty will review the ratings assigned by the department but substantially defer to them. Discussions between the Chair and the Deans regarding any differences of opinion will take place before the Chair communicates ratings to his/her faculty members. The Dean's Office will also monitor the process for fairness within departments and for compliance with the Administrative Regulations.
