A&S Launches New Website

As University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences students return to classes, they will notice that their college has a new Website full of student-centered resources.

“With the launch of the new College of Arts & Sciences website, we are extremely excited to provide a dynamic and resourceful tool that will be beneficial to students, faculty and staff, while also showcasing the ingenuity, hard work and talent of the A&S community,” said Steven L. Hoch, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences.

About A&S is the first stop for users seeking basic information about the college. Fast facts, directions to the college, a directory and a message from Dean Steven L. Hoch can be found on this page.

News and events is the place to visit to find out what is new and exciting in the college. Headlines will be available on the A&S home page, as well as archived in a searchable database. Clicking through to the academics page takes users to a list of academic departments and information on research (particularly useful to graduate students). The advising page links to the APEX Degree Audit system, graduation information, A&S advising services, career counseling, tutoring and much more. Students can even schedule an appointment with their adviser online.

Students considering their choice of major (or parents wondering how their student will use a philosophy degree) should check out "Where can A&S take me?", a listing of often-unexpected uses for liberal arts degrees.

The alumni and giving page offers ways for A&S alumni to connect with the college and each other. Alumni can update their contact information, find times and dates for alumni events, explore the Alumni Hall of Fame and meet the College of A&S Advancement Office staff.

Back on the A&S home page, a feature on the left hand side of the screen highlights successful A&S students. An ongoing section titled "A&S Insideout" currently features examples of The Power of the Written Word in five distinct departments spanning the arts and the sciences.

Academic departments within A&S are also receiving extreme website makeovers to match the updated style of the college site. Currently the departments of Biology and Psychology sport the new features planned for all departmental sites.
