UK Hosts Kentucky Academy of Science Annual Meeting


The 94th Kentucky Academy of Science Annual Meeting will be hosted by the University of Kentucky Oct. 31-Nov. 1.  This meeting provides a venue for Kentucky’s scientists and student scientists to publicly present their research.  The annual meeting will feature an Undergraduate Research Competition, awards banquet, symposia and lectures.  2008 presenters include Roger Quinn, director of the Biologically Inspired Robotics Lab at Case Western Reserve University and Hazel Barton, Ashland Endowed Professor in Integrated Science at Northern Kentucky University. UK has recently become an enhanced KAS affiliate, meaning that effective immediately UK faculty, staff, administrators and students are entitled to become KAS members without paying any annual membership fees.  Academy members are eligible to apply for numerous KAS research grants and to submit manuscripts for publication in the peer reviewed Journal of the Kentucky Academy of Science (JKAS).  KAS members also receive complimentary electronic access to the JKAS, a free KAS newsletter subscription containing news from the Kentucky science community, as well as discounted registration fees to KAS annual meetings. 

University of Kentucky faculty, staff and students who are current KAS members and who have provided an e-mail address ending in "uky.edu" to KAS should see their membership automatically updated.
