Jahi Chikwendiu, a Lexington native, received his undergraduate degree from the UK Department of Mathematics in 1996. An award-winning photojournalist with the Washington Post, he began his career at the Lexington Herald Leader, and was named 2008 Photographer of the Year by the White House News Photographers Association. His work has taken him to Iran, Kurdistan, Uganda, and many other trouble spots.
