Growing up I lived in several cities on the East Coast, and spent 12 years in upstate New York. I attended Cornell University for my undergraduate degree in Human Development and then moved to the Washington, D.C. area to complete a Masters of Arts at George Mason University in Developmental Psychology. I came to Lexington to earn my doctorate. However, my love for career counseling and student services drew me into the work force after I completed a Masters of Education at the University of Kentucky in Counseling Psychology. For the past two years, I served as an Assistant Director for the UK Career Center. The next chapter of my time here in Lexington will be an exciting one. It is with pleasure that I join the Arts and Sciences advising team, working with students in the humanities majors. Assisting students in finding their passions, capitalizing on their strengths, and working towards a successful future is a very rewarding endeavor.

I love working with students! As an academic advisor in the College of Arts & Sciences I have had the opportunity to work with students from many walks of life. I feel that I learn something new with every student I get to know, and I hope that I reciprocate that feeling with the advisees I interact with daily. The college experience can be the best time of one’s life, but there are also obstacles to overcome. I am happy to work with all my advisees to create a plan to graduate and prepare for future careers and graduate and professional programs. Helping students discover and develop their goals and supporting students as they achieve their potential is extremely rewarding!

I grew up in Ohio and have my master’s degree from Ohio University in College Student Personnel. I have worked at UK since the summer of 2007. In my free time, I love playing with my dogs, going on road-trips and exploring Lexington!

I earned my master’s degree in higher education from UK and my bachelor’s degree from Asbury College, with a major in sociology and double minor in business and Spanish. I have worked in different areas of student affairs, such as admissions at Transylvania University, residence life while working on my master’s degree at UK, and one of the TRIO programs (Educational Talent Search) at what was then Lexington Community College. I also spent a brief stint as the Coordinator of Volunteer Services at Hospice of the Bluegrass before beginning my job as an advisor in the College of Arts & Sciences in March 1999. I have enjoyed my time in advising, and have found I can learn a lot from my students, as well as the other way around!

A Kentucky native, born and raised in Morehead, Kentucky, I received a B.A. in Political Science from Eastern Kentucky University and a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisville. I began my career at UK in 2007 in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as the Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions. After spending three years with prospective students, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with currently enrolled students as an academic advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences. I am very excited to be a part of a team of advisors that are truly dedicated to student success. My goal is to help students with their goals by encouraging them to follow their dreams and sometimes choose the road less travelled. I will strive to make sure students are aware of all the options, resources, and support here at the University of Kentucky. I look forward to enhancing your student experience at UK!  When I’m not working, you’ll find me at a dog park with Bruiser and Tate, cheering on the CATS, or doing something utterly domestic- after all, I did audition for Martha Stewart’s Apprentice…

Raised in San Francisco, I earned a BS Biology Degree at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. After college I worked at Yerkes Primate Center in Atlanta, Georgia, teaching language to chimpanzees. After two and a half years as a “chimp-cowboy”, I moved to Athens Georgia to enter the Art Studio graduate program at the University of Georgia. In 1986 I earned my MFA in ceramics and moved to Berea College where I was artist-in-residence until 1989. In 1991 I joined the faculty at Midway College to teach ceramics, design and critical thinking. Currently I maintain a ceramics studio in Lexington KY where I have lived for over twenty one years with my wife, daughter (who is a sophomore in college) and a variety of pets including a dog, a cat and an assortment of fish.

An advising session creates pathways toward academic and personal success and visits to my office will provide you with the variety of options and resources available at the University of Kentucky. Your goals may include graduation, graduate or professional programs, or the pursuit of life-long knowledge and well-being. Whatever your goals are, I look forward to facilitating your academic journey and assisting you in achieving your individual path in life.

I was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, received my B.S. from East Carolina University in Rehabilitation Services and moved to Kentucky for my graduate education and employment. I completed my masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky and before graduating became a certified rehabilitation counselor. Upon my arrival to Kentucky I began working with adults with disabilities and soon found how wonderful and rewarding having a healthy, working relationship with others can be. I am pleased to be a part of College of Arts & Sciences Advising Center and I am looking forward of seeing our biology advisees succeed in their educational goals and having many working relationships with students, faculty and staff.

Hi! I am very excited to be working with students, faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Sciences.
I graduated from Bates College (Lewiston, ME) with a Bachelors Degree in Child and Family Studies, an individually designed, interdisciplinary major. While at Bates, I also minored in Spanish and the Sociology of Inequality. I earned my Masters degree in Social Work at Simmons College (Boston, MA) with a Certificate in Urban Leadership in Clinical Social Work. Having attended small schools, I understand the importance of individuality, and will be able to provide personalized attention to each student. Prior to working at UK, I have counseled people in a variety of settings including elementary and middle schools, a college writing center, and a community health center.

I have lived abroad in both Ecuador and Costa Rica. In both places I studied, volunteered, traveled, and learned to dance! I’m looking forward to talking to students about studying abroad, and I encourage anyone who can, to go abroad! Feel free to speak with me in Spanish. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis, reading, hiking, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with my family, especially my adorable nieces.
As a clinical social worker, I am trained to help individuals set goals for themselves and determine ways to achieve them. I’m delighted to work with students at UK to help them accomplish their academic, career, and personal goals.

I received a B.A. in Corporate and Organizational Communication from Western Kentucky University (WKU) and a M.S. in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in Business Administration from Murray State University (MSU).

Currently, I am an Academic Advisor with the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky (UK), specializing in the social sciences.  My previous positions include Marketing Specialist for the Center for Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (CPST) of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, Community and Event Representative for the Mid-South Region of the American Cancer Society, Account Manager for Cardinal Office Systems, and Account Representative for WTVQ News Channel 36.

While advising undergraduate business students during my graduate assistantship in the College of Business and Public Affairs at MSU, I found my niche in student academia.  In 2006, after working in the corporate marketplace for more than six years, I was thankful for the experiences I had gained but was happy to make the decision to return to the career field of higher education and to once again enjoy the opportunity to work on a college campus.

Today, I truly believe in the philosophy of advising as teaching, and I look forward to seeing positive results in the successful academic outcomes of my students.

I have been advising at the University of Kentucky since 2007.  Originally from Michigan, I attended high school in Indiana before earning both a bachelor of arts degree in studio art and a master of arts in education degree in student affairs from Western Kentucky University. After graduation I spent two years at Austin Peay State University as a campus activities coordinator. I believe that engagement, self-awareness and campus involvement are major keys to a successful college career. I enjoy cooking, rock music, ultimate Frisbee and refereeing women’s flat track roller derby.

Greetings! I am so excited to be advising in the College of Arts and Sciences at UK! I am from Mahwah, New Jersey, which is about 40-minutes outside of New York City.  I grew up in New Jersey for most of my life until I went college.  I went to college at a small private liberal arts institution called Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina.  I graduated Greensboro College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Psychology, Christian Education, and Chemistry.  During my time at Greensboro College I was actively involved in Orientation, the Association of Student Government, Greek Life, and was a Resident Advisor.  After graduating from Greensboro College I attended graduate school at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.  I graduate from NC State with a Masters of Education in Counselor Education with a focus in College Student Development.  During graduate school I was a Residence Director, Counseling Intern in the Counseling Center/Health Promotion, and Academic Advisor.

I discovered my interest and passion for Advising during graduate school and decided to pursue my interest which guided me to the work at Miami University in Oxford, OH as a First Year Advisor. During my time at Miami University, I was live-in Hall Director and Academic Advisor for first year students.  I was actively involved at Miami serving as an Organizational Advisor, Course Instructor, and Lead Facilitator for our RA class.  After having many wonderful and unique experiences at Miami, I decided to make another change in life and pursue Academic Advising.

At the heart of Advising is helping students discover their path for life.  Part of my life was spent thinking I was going to be doctor but that all changed when I went to college.  Going to college is a special time in a young person’s life that makes one think about yourself and the world around you.  I am so excited to be here at UK and look forward to make your experience memorable! Go Big Blue!

Hello!! I am happy to be working at the University of Kentucky with the students, faculty and staff in the College of Arts and Sciences and across campus. I was born and raised right here in Lexington, therefore I can’t help but to bleed blue! After high school, I went to Indianapolis to attend Butler University (Let’s go Dawgs!) and I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology. Following graduation, I spent two years at my alma mater recruiting high school students to become Butler Bulldogs in my work as an admission counselor and coordinator of multicultural recruitment. In 2007, I moved to Ohio to get my master’s degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. That means I spent two years learning specifically how to best work with students just like you who are learning, growing and developing in so many ways at a very important and exciting time in life! While at BGSU, I advised undecided first and second-year students, was a Greek house director for a sorority and advised the Black Student Union.

I am excited about building relationships with students here at UK!  It is my goal for students to feel they can come to me with any issue, concern or question about their experience in college and know that I will do my best to assist them. I LOVED my college experience and I want students to feel the same way about theirs. I highly encourage all of my advisees to get involved in something on campus outside of academics; it can have a wonderful impact on your experience!! It is great to be back in Wildcat Nation and I look forward to meeting you. Fun fact about me: my “secret” fantasy is to be a backup singer!

I am excited to join the team of outstanding academic advisors in the College of Arts and Sciences here at UK. Whether you are an incoming freshman, transfer, or returning student I am looking forward to working with you! Together we will select an educational program tailored to meet your academic, personal, and career goals. I hope to be not only a source of information but also one of encouragement for you.

I attended the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY as an undergraduate where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. While at Cumberland, I was a member of the men’s tennis team and I also served as a Resident Assistant. As some of you already know, being an RA is not an easy task, however, if you enjoy meeting people and serving others it is an extremely rewarding experience that I highly recommend. I later attended Indiana University Bloomington for graduate school where I received a master’s degree in Nuclear Chemistry. Graduate school offered many exciting opportunities to travel and work at a number of different laboratories including Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the GANIL accelerator facility in Caen, France. It was during my time as an associate instructor at I.U., however, that I discovered my passion for working with students and helping them to find success throughout their educational career. On a more personal note, my interests include: tennis, golf, ultimate Frisbee, music, history, and travel.

I have worked in several areas of student affairs; admissions, multicultural affairs, residence life, advising, and most recently in degree certification in the College of Arts and Sciences here at UK. I will be working with students in the natural sciences majors and look forward to helping my students achieve their higher education goals. In my free time I enjoy sports, reading, being at the dog park with my dog Punkin Duncan Jerome, and spending time with my family. I am also a very proud veteran of the United States Army.

I was born on the bayou in South Louisiana, where I later earned a B.A. and M.A. in English from Louisiana State University. I’m now pursuing a Ph.D. in American literature here at University of Kentucky. I guess you could say I have an affinity for feline mascots, the SEC, and reading good books. Beyond my passion for literature and literary studies, I enjoy fishing, screenwriting, playing guitar, skateboarding, and camping.

For the past few years, I’ve taught English courses at UK. I’m thrilled to have this new opportunity to work more closely with English and linguistics majors and minors as an academic advisor. I think back on my undergraduate years as a pivotal moment of encountering challenging new ideas, and it’s always rewarding to watch my inquisitive students learn and grow during this exciting time in their lives.

I am thrilled to be part of the College of Arts and Sciences advising team! I have a B.A. in English from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. in English with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) from the University of Kentucky. I am a native of northern Wisconsin, but now consider Lexington home. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, being outdoors, gardening, and theater. As a new homeowner, I also love yard and home improvement projects.

On campus, I’m a member of the Advising Network and serve on the executive board as co-events planner. I have served as a Journal/Journey advisor through the Honors Program and help with Merit Weekend and summer advising conference coordination in our college. I love working one-on-one with students and look forward to sharing my positive energy with each student that comes through my door!

Having moved around much of my life, I have mostly lived in the Midwest and have an appreciation for experiencing all four seasons of weather. After graduating from high school in a rural community in Indiana, I continued my education at Indiana University, Bloomington where I completed a degree in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Human Development & Family Studies. I was then given the opportunity to come to the University of Kentucky, and have completed my masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Prior to working for UK, I worked as a vocational evaluator, assessing individuals’ abilities to return to work and/or plan for additional training and education. I also have served as operations manager for a federally funded grant which provided employment services to individuals with neurological disabilities. I love being a part of the College of Arts & Sciences Advising Center and enjoy working with our amazing students, faculty, and staff!
