I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, received my B.A. from The Ohio State University, and moved to Kentucky for my graduate education. I completed my M.A. in history and have since taught courses at UK, Kentucky State, Berea College and EKU. I’m excited to be part of the Arts and Sciences advising team as the academic advisor for the departments of sociology and anthropology. Although much of my free time is taken up with research and writing, I enjoy camping, hiking, and play as much golf as possible.

I was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, received my B.S. from East Carolina University in Rehabilitation Services and moved to Kentucky for my graduate education and employment. I completed my masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky and before graduating became a certified rehabilitation counselor. Upon my arrival to Kentucky I began working with adults with disabilities and soon found how wonderful and rewarding having a healthy, working relationship with others can be. I am pleased to be a part of College of Arts & Sciences Advising Center and I am looking forward of seeing our biology advisees succeed in their educational goals and having many working relationships with students, faculty and staff.

After receiving my BSS in family studies and sociology from Ohio University in 2001, I found a position as a social worker in Child Support Enforcement with unemployed adults. Although my job was interesting and challenging, my primary vocational interest is working with individuals at an earlier developmental age. I returned to OU for my Master’s of Education in college student personnel in 2005. At Ohio University I had the opportunity to work in an advising and retention office working with students who were struggling academically. I am very excited to be a new member of the UK Arts & Science’s family. I’m looking forward to getting to know my biology advisees and building new relationships!
My personal interests include animals, the environment, and social justice programs such as Invisible Children.

I received my BA in German from UK in 2005 and returned in 2006 to work toward a degree in Russian and Linguistics. Since returning to UK, I have worked as a tutor, mentor, and college instructor in various subjects, and am very happy to be back with Arts and Sciences. Working with language majors again is an exciting opportunity for me. Languages have always been a passion of mine, and I have always enjoyed traveling abroad, both as a student and on my own. I love being able to share those experiences and inspire students to make languages part of their careers.

I am excited about the opportunity to work with students in the College of Arts and Sciences in achieving their academic and personal goal. Before coming to UK, I worked closely with students at a small liberal arts college and look forward to bringing the “personal attention” of a small college to University of Kentucky students. In addition to working with students on academic goals, my goal will be to challenge students to become involved in the College of Arts and Sciences through organizations, activities, scholarship and research.

Greetings! Welcome to the University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences! I am the English and linguistics academic advisor. Originally from Nashville, Tenn., home of the Tennessee Titans, yes I’m a Titans fan and not a Bengals fan. I came to Kentucky for undergraduate school at Western Kentucky University where I earned my B.A. in broadcast communication. Before leaving Bowling Green, I completed my M.A. in communication with an emphasis in corporate and organizational communication from WKU. After graduating, I worked in corporate for a little over a year before returning to WKU to work as the minority teacher recruitment coordinator. I worked in that position for a little over two years when my husband and I made the move to Lexington and I was hired as an advisor in Arts & Sciences. I enjoy working with students and seeing them progress throughout their academic career. It warms my heart to see a student that I worked with as a freshman graduate after four years.

I received a B.A. in corporate and organizational communication from Western Kentucky University (WKU) and a M.S. in organizational communication with an emphasis in business administration from Murray State University (MSU).
Currently, I am an academic advisor with the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky, specializing in geography and political science. My previous positions include marketing specialist for the Center for Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (CPST) of the College of Pharmacy at UK, community and event representative for the Mid-South Region of the American Cancer Society, account representative for WTVQ News Channel 36, and academic advisor/graduate assistant for the College of Business and Public Affairs at MSU.
After my time spent in the corporate marketplace, I found my niche in student academia while advising undergraduate business students during my graduate assistantship. Today, I truly believe in the philosophy of advising as teaching, and I look forward to seeing positive results in the successful academic outcomes of my students.

I earned my master’s degree in higher education from UK and my bachelor’s degree from Asbury College, with a major in sociology and double minor in business and Spanish. I have worked in different areas of student affairs, such as admissions at Transylvania University, residence life while working on my master’s degree at UK, and one of the TRIO programs (Educational Talent Search) at what was then Lexington Community College. I also spent a brief stint as the Coordinator of Volunteer Services at Hospice of the Bluegrass before beginning my job as an advisor in the College of Arts & Sciences in March 1999. I have enjoyed my time as an advisor, and have found I can learn a lot from my students, as well as the other way around!

I became an academic advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences at UK in December 2005 after earning a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education – French and a master’s degree in Higher Education from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). I grew up near St. Louis, Mo., and after high school decided it was time to spread my wings and try something new. Initially my transition to college so far from home was quite rocky, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
One of the things I love best about advising language and international studies majors is all of the fantastic conversations I get to have every day with students. Of course we talk about which classes to take and how to navigate the university system, but the fun stuff is talking about travel and study abroad; internships and career possibilities; how to make a difference in the lives of others; and figuring out how to tap into your passion! All day I try to help students find a way to realize their own personal goals. What could be better?

While not a UK graduate, I bleed blue. My undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Western Kentucky University. My master’s degree is in communication. I have taught at both the high school and collegiate level and worked with the Kentucky’s Governor’s Cup Competition and the International Future Problem Solving Program. As a parent of two college graduates, one of whom graduated from UK, I understand some of the angst one can experience in college. I truly enjoy working with students in designing their majors, helping them navigate the university, setting goals and making life choices. In my spare time I enjoy reading and baking, and am an avid UK basketball fan.

A native of Fort Mitchell, Ky., I received my B.S. in kinesiology at Georgetown College where I was a member of the women’s soccer team. After college I went to Eastern Kentucky University where I earned my M.S. in sports administration. Prior to joining the Arts and Sciences advising team, I worked in student-athlete academic services at both Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. At UK, I worked extensively with football student-athletes at the Center for Academic and Tutorial Services. I enjoy working with students to help them achieve their academic and career goals. Outside of work, I enjoy attending sporting events and spending time with my husband, our cats, and family and friends. GO CATS!

I am originally from southwestern Michigan but currently live in Paris, KY. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology at Hope College in Holland, Mich., and obtained my Master of Science in clinical psychology at the University of Kentucky. I have work experiences in teaching, mental health, career counseling and human resources. While attending graduate school, I did a practicum at Asbury College Counseling Center where I discovered my passion for career guidance with college students. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Indiana University – Bloomington and have a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky. I am also recognized as a nationally certified rehabilitation counselor since January 2006. Prior to working as an academic advisor, I have worked as a vocational evaluator, assessing individuals’ abilities to return to work and/or plan for additional training and education. I also served as operations manager for a federally funded grant which serves individuals with neurological disabilities in 17 counties of the Bluegrass Region. I strongly believe that the aim of education is to teach individuals how to think, and look forward to assisting students through advising services.
