Creative research and scholarship lie at the center of the College of Arts and Sciences. College faculty collaborate with colleagues across the university, as well as with leading scholars throughout the world. Faculty routinely are awarded grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Science Foundation, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, US Department of Education, and National Institutes of Health. Similarly, college faculty win national and international fellowships, including awards from the Guggenheim, Fulbright, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Humboldt.
In addition to Top 20 programs in Hispanic Studies, Human Geography, and Clinical Psychology, the college leads the
university in its number of University Research Professorships (60 percent). The college houses the #1 department at UK in collaborative funds per faculty member and the #2 department at UK for intellectual property disclosures. The college fosters interdisciplinarity in its research and instructional mission.
