MacAdam Student Observatory

Overview

The MacAdam Student Observatory is a University of Kentucky building located on top of parking garage structure #2 that is used by faculty and students alike for research and learning.

News/Updates

The Observatory staff welcome the public to visit our new facility.  To celebrate our first summer, we will be open for viewing on Friday nights from June 27th through July 25th. We open our doors from 9PM to 11PM, weather permitting, on these dates.  Check this web page for a weather update at 8PM. A phone message will also be updated at the observatory number.

 

The observatory will be open every Friday in July, weather permitting. 

 

***** July 4th *****

From 9PM to 11PM on the 4th, the observatory will be open, rain or shine to show off our new facility. We will not be open if lightning is in the area. Please be aware that people will be on top of the parking structure to watch fireworks.  If the parking deck is open, please park below the top deck.

Please, no food, drinks, tobacco, or high heels are allowed in the observatory. Check here again tomorrow evening at 8:30 P.M. for an update.
