The Department of Sociology is strongly committed to serving the larger community of Lexington and the State of Kentucky. In fact, several of our graduate faculty members (with appointments in the Department of Community and Leadership Development) are affiliated with the University of Kentucky Extension Service. Other faculty members are involved with community outreach concerns associated with family, health, substance abuse programs, food security, education, youth, African-American culture and history, and environmental issues.
