Advising

Our goal is to assist our students in navigating the academic landscape of the University so that their education experiences effectively prepare them for careers in psychology. Whether you are thinking about changing your major to psychology or you have questions about degree requirements, APEX, or academic withdrawal, or you are wondering what you can do with a psychology degree when you graduate, we are here to serve you. We would be happy to sit down with you and talk about your dreams and aspirations and discuss a degree plan with you, or, if you are transferring from another major or university, we welcome the opportunity to go through the classes you have already taken to see how they might fit with your changing goals and psychology plans.

If you have 30 hours or more of course credit, you will be advised by one of the three professional advisors in the Department of Psychology. Click on the “Find your Advisor” link to locate your psychology advisor. If you have fewer than 30 hours of course credit, you will be advised by the academic advisors in the College of Arts and Sciences. See the “Advising Directory” link to locate your College of Arts & Sciences advisor.

Typically, you will speak directly with a professional advisor who will answer your questions. Sometimes, your advisor might refer you to your faculty advisor for questions about graduate school, research involvement, and career planning. And some questions may be referred to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Sung Hee Kim. No matter what your question is, we are here to help you.
