Welcome to the UK Department of Psychology.
The Department of Psychology’s top priority is to become one of the best psychology departments among all public research universities in the United States.
To help us achieve this goal, the department is building on existing strengths in our clinical psychology training program, particularly in the areas of substance abuse research and research on children at risk.
With graduate programs in behavioral neurosciences, social psychology, cognitive and developmental studies, and clinical psychology, the department offers a full range of training opportunities.
Since 2000, the department has experienced an impressive 600 percent growth in research grant activity. We have assembled a world-class faculty and a diverse group of top graduate students who last year published more than 200 research papers. Recent Ph.D. graduates have gone on to positions at Yale University, Vanderbilt University, University of Georgia, University of Washington, University of Florida, University of Minnesota, Wake Forest University, Northwestern University and the Mayo Clinic.
Our undergraduate psychology major remains one of the most popular on campus, and a key strength of the program is our emphasis on providing research opportunities for undergraduates. Currently, our students are participating in nearly 50 collaborative research projects with UK faculty representing a range of disciplines, including medicine, dentistry, engineering, communications, education, pharmacy and public health.
Thank you for visiting UK’s Department of Psychology. As you browse these web pages, I hope you will share my enthusiasm for the outstanding work that is happening in psychology at UK.
