Welcome to our graduate program.
We are pleased that you are interested in graduate studies in Political Science at the University of Kentucky. The University of Kentucky has a distinguished history of research and educational achievement as the state's premier university. And the Political Science Department has a long tradition of excellent scholarship, effective teaching, and training graduate students to become leading scholars in the discipline. The graduate program trains students to be both excellent teachers and leading scholars. Our recent placement record has been excellent, with students obtaining positions at schools such as the University of Rhode Island, Nebraska-Kearney, South Carolina, and Auburn.
The department is home to a broad range of political scientists, with emphasis on American Politics, International Relations, and Comparative Politics.
Our graduate stipends are highly competitive, and include tuition and health care.
Lexington is a wonderful place to live: a mid-sized metropolis bordered by rolling horse farms and home to thoroughbred racing at Keeneland Race Track. It’s a perfect environment for hiking, biking and enjoying the great outdoors, as well as various campus haunts.
