  • Professors Rick Waterman and Kirk Randazzo received a $68,795 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the effects of statutory constraint on judicial behavior in federal and state courts, thus extending their research published in The Journal of Politics (2006). Their grant employs two full-time graduate students, Michael Fix and Andrew Martin to help collect and analyze the data for their project.

  • Professor Emily Beaulieu’s article (with Susan D. Hyde), "In the Shadow of Democracy Promotion: Strategic Manipulation, International Observers, and Election Boycotts," will appear in Comparative Political Studies.
  • Professor Wonbin Cho’s article (with Michael Bratton), "Electoral Institutions, Partisan Status, and Political Support in Lesotho," appears in Electoral Studies (2006).
  • Professor Richard Fording’s article (with Joe Soss and Sanford Schram), "Devolution, Discretion, and the Effect of Local Political Values on TANF Sanctioning," appears in Social Service Review (2007).
  • Professor Don Gross’s article (& Eom, Kihong), "Contribution Limits and Disparity in Contributions between Gubernatorial Candidates," appears in Political Research Quarterly (2006).
  • Professor Dan Morey’s article (with Fred Boehmke & Megan Shannon), "Selection Bias and Continuous-Time Duration Models: Consequences and a Proposed Solution," appeared in American Journal of Political Science (2006).
  • Professor Mark Peffley‘s article (with Jon Hurwitz), "Persuasion and Resistance: Race and the Death Penalty in America," appears in American Journal of Political Science (2007). Peffley co-edits the journal, Political Behavior.
  • Professor Clayton Thyne’s article, "ABC‟s, 123‟s, and the Golden Rule: The Pacifying Effect of Education on Civil War, 1980-1999," appeared in International Studies Quarterly (2006).
  • Professor Ellen Riggle’s article (with Gina Owens and Sharon Rostosky), "Mental Health Services Access for Sexual Minority Individuals," appears in Sexuality Research and Social Policy (2007).
  • Professor Justin Wedeking’s article (with Robert Brown), "People Who Have Their Tickets But Do Not Use Them: „Motor Voter,‟ Registration, and Turnout Revisited," appeared in American Politics Research (2006).
