ResearchChristopher Rice received his B.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science with a Certificate in Social Theory from the University of Kentucky. His dissertation, Discourses of Sustainability: Grassroots Organizations and Sustainable Community Development in Central Appalachia, examined the work of several grassroots and community-based organizations in promoting community sustainability in the region. He has, in the past, worked as Research Director of the University of Kentucky’s Appalachian Center and as Program Director of the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development. Currently, Christopher lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife, three children and a surly cat.
