The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kentucky is an integral academic unit within the College of Arts and Sciences. The mission of the department is to advance the understanding and appreciation of science through basic research and education within the Commonwealth and globally. The department seeks to fulfill this mission through comprehensive teaching and training at the undergraduate and graduate levels, original research advancing knowledge in all avenues of physics and astronomy, service to communities within and outside the Commonwealth, and outreach to fulfill societal needs with respect to physics and astronomy.
