University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences

Alumni & Giving

The very essence of an International Studies major is an interest in other nations and a burning desire to travel, study or work abroad.  In an ideal world, education abroad would be a requirement of the IS major.  With the current level of scholarship availability at UK, this is not currently possible.  And while UK’s College of Arts and Sciences and UK’s Office of International Affairs offer scholarships for travel (and IS majors have an excellent track record in receiving these), UKs scholarship opportunities for travel are extremely limited.

The overwhelming response by UK students to the launch of the International Studies major demonstrates an enormous curiosity on the part of UK students to experience the world both intellectually and through travel and residence abroad. In its initial year (2007-08 academic year), over 100 students declared the IS major and the number of majors continues to grow rapidly. Please consider supporting the IS major at this exciting time of its initiation through a tuition or travel scholarship fund.

There are many ways to make a charitable contribution to the International Studies program of the University of Kentucky. For assistance with making a contribution, contact Dr. Monica Udvardy at udvardy@uky.edu or 859-257-6919. Your consideration and support is greatly appreciated.

Monica Udvardy
International Studies Program Director
