RELIGIONS AND HISTORY
Religion has long been a critical element of human experience. The religious history field of concentration seeks to understand the dynamic interaction of religious thought and practice with their cultural contexts. Recognizing the diverse character of religious expression, this field welcomes a variety of methodological approaches. It examines the evolution of religious thought and practice within the rhetorical, cultural, legal, economic, and political spheres of those whose history we study. This concentration explores fields such as identity, ritual and discourse across continents and time periods from antiquity to the present.
