Program Overview
The Department of English offers a wide variety of courses in English and American literature as well as in comparative literature, linguistics, folklore, film, creative writing, and composition. Undergraduate majors may also choose a curriculum that leads to a teaching certificate. Both majors and nonmajors will find many courses that offer opportunities to deepen their acquaintance with their own culture and its heritage, to enlarge their understanding of the human condition, and to develop their capacity to use and appreciate their own language.
