Funding & Awards

The research programs of the faculty in the Department of Biology are funded by extramural grants totaling over $6.5 million

Dr. Jeff Osborn was honored with the Arthur C. Guyton Physiology Educator of the Year Award from the American Physiology Society during the Experimental Biology Annual Meeting in Washington D.C., April 28-May 2, 2007. Dr. Osborn was additionally honored with the UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award for 2007

Dr. Ruth Beattie received the Ken Freedman Outstanding Advisor Award for 2006-2007. Every year, one University of Kentucky faculty member and one staff member are presented with a Ken Freedman Outstanding Advisor Award in honor of Ken Freedman who served as a professional adviser at UK for over 15 years prior to his death in 2001. Recipients receive a $500 travel grant and are recognized at an awards ceremony.
