Conventional Microscopy Facility

  • Nikon E800 Epifluorescence Compound Microscope
  • Objectives from 4x to 100x magnification

  • Differential Interference Contrast (DIC/Nomarski) optics for 10x to 100x objectives

  • Fluorescence filter sets appropriate for DAPI, FITC/GFP, RITC/TRITC and related fluorochromes
  • Fluorescence filter sets  for DAPI, BFP, CFP, YFP, FITC/GFP, and RITC/DsRed

Conventional microscopes use a Spot RT Slider digital camera to capture light or fluorescence micrographs.

All microscopes are housed in T.H. Morgan Room 300A.  Conventional microscopes are available for use by Biology Department researchers on a first-come first-served basis.  Potential users outside the department should contact Doug Harrison.  Please see the Confocal Microscopy Facility page for more information about equipment and availability of that instrument.
