When alumni and friends donate to the College of Arts & Sciences, students like Eddie Kobraei make sure they are getting their money’s worth. A biology senior, Kobraei is the recipient of four scholarships or awards in the 2007-2008 academic year alone – including the National Beckman Scholarship Award, A.J. Whitehouse Senior Pre-medical Scholarship, Arts and Sciences Dean’s Scholarship Endowment Award and the University of Kentucky Academic Excellence Scholarship.

“Without this assistance, attending the University of Kentucky would have simply been impossible for me,” Kobraei said. “Attending school elsewhere would have precluded the exceptional academic and extracurricular experience I’ve had at UK.”

Clearly, Kobraei appreciates the excellent education that UK is enriching him with, and with plans to attend medical school and make a difference as a research scientist or a health-care professional, he looks forward to the day when he can reward a future generation of UK’s best.

“The donors’ contributions have also been a source of personal encouragement, and I will never forget the investment made in me. I hope to one day invest the same kind of support in aspiring individuals.”
