Comparative Cognition: Experimental Explorations of Animal IntelligenceOxford University Press, 2006.
Thomas Zentall and co-editor Edward Wasserman have complied 25 years of research on comparative cognition in “Comparative Cognition: Experimental Explorations of Animal Intelligence." The award-winning compilation of essays shows the variety of cognitive behavior of which animals are capable. The volume parallels the growing interest in animal intelligence exemplified by the newly founded Comparative Cognition Society.
Zentall and Wasserman discuss the changes which led to the value of research comparing human behavior to that of other animals. The book, a helpful tool for scholars and students, examines such areas of research as problem solving, tool use, social learning, awareness, recollection and concept learning.
Thomas Zentall is a professor of psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky.
