Thomas Janoski is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Kentucky. He has taught at the University of California, Berkeley, and at Duke University.
Robert R. Alford was a respected scholar of political sociology and a dedicated teacher. At the time of his death he was Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center. This Book is dedicated to his memory.
Alexander M. Hicks is Professor of Sociology at Emory University. Mildred A. Schwartz is Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Visiting Scholar in the Department of Sociology at New York University.
