One of the College’s newest majors is international studies, an interdisciplinary program designed to explore global issues in various regions around the world. Students tailor the international studies major to match their interests by selecting a thematic and geographic area of concentration. Possible areas of concentration include Africa and the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Russia and Eurasia, and East, South, and Southeast Asia.Thematic concentrations include international relations, culture and arts, global environment, international development, international commerce, and human rights and social movements. Students interested in economics and advanced language skills can choose the foreign language and international economics (FLIE) concentration in place of an area and theme. The program culminates in a capstone senior project which students will complete under the supervision of a faculty mentor. Due its interdisciplinary nature and a student’s opportunity to choose coursework, a major in international studies can prepare students for a variety of different careers or advanced education including business, politics, government, the arts, law, non-profit, communication and area studies.
A homepage for international studies is presently under development. In the meantime, for more information please contact:

All currently declared FLIE majors will be allowed to graduate under the curriculum requirements in place when they declared the major.
